Lenovo A6000 Plus review: better than the old version

With the flash sale, Xiaomi has managed to carve out a special place in the Indian smartphone market. The company has always been especially attentive to the prices of its products. The company decided the price keeping in mind the users who believe in budget phones. For this reason, the company is successfully selling mobile phones at will and the sales are also not declining.

Naturally, other companies also want to copy Xiaomi’s success. Micromax has made good efforts in this direction with its Yu product and Lenovo, Xiaomi’s biggest competitor in the Chinese market.

This does not mean that this is the first time the company is participating in the Lenovo A6000 Plus sale. Previously, the company achieved significant success in flash sales of the A6000 and A7000 models. This was also due to its aggressive price and excellent performance. Now, the company has launched the Lenovo A6000 Plus in the market at Rs 7,499, which is somewhat an upgraded version of the A6000. It retains the old demand but with slight changes to keep the product fresh.

Appearance and Design
There is nothing special about the Lenovo A6000 Plus for us to see the difference between it and the A6000. Both phones are similar in appearance. Placing both phones side by side, we couldn’t tell the difference. Needless to say, the dimensions and weight of the A6000 Plus are the same as its previous version. The matte finish of the back cover remains intact, and we are pleased with the ergonomics of the phone.

Even if we talk about small details, nothing has changed. The volume rocker and power button are on the right side. The micro-USB port and 3.5mm jack are at the top. The front camera and speaker are located above the screen, while the two speakers are located at the bottom of the back of the phone. The phone screen is 5 inches, pixel density is 294ppi. In this case there are also no changes from the A6000.

Specifications and software
The Lenovo A6000 Plus used the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 SoC. The main difference between Lenovo A6000 and A6000 Plus is the internal storage and RAM. The Plus model has 16GB of internal storage and 2GB of RAM, while the A6000 model has 8GB of internal storage and 1GB of RAM. The phone’s memory can be increased up to 32 GB via microSD. This increase will appeal to customers looking for value for money. This feature gives users the confidence to use Lenovo A6000 Plus for a long time.

All other characteristics are the same as the old model. The phone has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. The phone has 4G connection. It is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2300 mAh lithium polymer battery.

Lenovo A6000 Plus runs Android KitKat 4.4.4 operating system with Vibe 2.0 user interface. However, this phone has a lot of features that use up more RAM and space than necessary. In addition, there are more pre-installed applications than necessary. Some of them are usable, but others just take up screen space. However, they can be removed and disabled. So there is no need to worry. The absence of an app drawer is clearly visible in the user interface. It looks more cartoonishly representative and flashy than we would like, but this problem can be solved by downloading a good launcher from the Google Play store.

camera
The simple look and feel of the camera app remains the same, with all settings hidden in one menu. Switching between photo, video and panorama modes is very easy. Apart from this, there are very useful shortcuts for the front camera, flash and HDR mode. Autofocus is also very fast and works well in many ways.

By the way, this phone uses a Lenovo A6000 camera model. The main problems are overexposure in daylight and poor edge detection in low light. The camera of this smartphone cannot be called bad, but it does not always take good photos. Videos are recorded in 720p resolution. At the same time, given the budget range of smartphones, the 2 MP front camera copes with its task quite well.

performance
The increase in RAM provided better performance than other phones in this price range. In addition to the fast performance of the phone, you can now open more and more applications at the same time, this is much better than the Lenovo A6000.

The Lenovo A6000 Plus scores slightly better than the A6000. The phone scored 21,392 and 11,860 points in the AnTuTu and Quadrant tests, respectively. The 3DMark and GFX Bench scores closely match the A6000’s scores of 5,262 and 9.6 fps, respectively. These results are not surprising since both devices use the same processor with integrated Adreno 306 graphics. The phone had problems playing heavily encoded videos, and the 40Mbps sample video showed lag. However, the phone’s performance was good when playing regular videos, and videos up to 720p resolution played smoothly. Dolby-enabled speakers are a great feature in a phone of this size and an added value for users who like to watch a lot of movies.

Lenovo A6000 Plus is a 4G device and once 4G networks roll out across the country, this smartphone will come in handy. Currently, most users in India only have access to 3G service. With that in mind, the 4G feature of the A6000 Plus doesn’t offer much of an advantage over other budget phones. Once again, the battery life of this phone is also excellent. In the video looping test, the Lenovo A6000 Plus lasted 10 hours and 34 minutes, which is slightly better than the A6000.

our decision
The Lenovo A6000 was a great smartphone in many ways, but this time the Chinese company has outdone itself in terms of performance and value and has launched a great phone in the market in the form of the Lenovo A6000 Plus. The company has improved two specifications that caused issues with the previous device. By increasing the internal storage and RAM, it offers better value for money than the previous phone.

Unfortunately, the new device also has an average camera and no protective glass on the screen. It would be nice if Lenovo addressed both of these issues, but the A6000 Plus is still a great device for the price. However, the company sold the product in limited quantities through e-commerce site Flipkart. It is possible that due to this, buyers may become more inclined towards Honor, Xiaomi, Motorola and Asus. If you managed to purchase this smartphone during the flash sale, rest assured that your money was well spent.
