Appearance and Design
selfie smartphone asus zenfone The design is largely based on the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser. With a unique shape, a circular pattern on the top of the device and a volume rocker on the back, the overall device is designed in such a way that it looks like a part of the Zenfone series.

The main difference between the design is the unique color option. In addition, the front camera of the selfie smartphone is larger. This camera is built in the center and has a flash and speaker on both sides. This phone has a hybrid SIM slot, which means the SIM card slot can be used as a microSD card slot. However, you will only be able to use one of the two. We already said that this feature limits you to a large extent.

The Asus ZenFone Selfie’s 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) screen is clear, bright and extremely detailed. It excels in terms of viewing angles, sunlight readability and color rendering.

Specifications and software
The Asus Zenfone Selfie uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset, which is common in devices priced under Rs 15,000. The model we received for review has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Another variant of the device is available for Rs 15,999 and comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

At first glance, this device from Asus looks expensive, especially compared to phones like the Yu Yureka Plus that are available for less money. However, keep one thing in mind: Asus charges you for the premium camera technology.

Other specs include 4G support on both SIM cards, Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, microSD card (up to 64GB) and a 3,000mAh battery. This device is by no means a high-end device, but it is quite effective in everyday use.

Like other Asus devices, Zenfone Selfie comes with a lot of Asus bloatware and tools. Third-party apps can be uninstalled, but you’ll only be able to disable Asus apps and services.

camera
The Asus Zenfone Selfie features a 13-megapixel front camera with F/2.2 aperture and a wide viewing angle of 88 degrees. The rear camera also has a 13-megapixel camera. Its lens has an F/2.0 aperture and is also equipped with a laser autofocus system. Both cameras feature a 5P Largan lens, Toshiba sensor, blue glass filter and dual-tone LED flash.

The rear camera of the Asus Zenfone Selfie is similar to the camera of the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser device and its performance is also similar. The camera’s indoor shots are good, but outdoor shots are average and look blurry in daylight. Indoor and close-up shots come out well thanks to the lens’ autofocus and macro focusing.

There’s a good chance you’ll also be using the front camera to take selfies, so we limited our testing to that only. The picture turned out very clear, detailed and bright. Color rendering and low-light performance were also good. Basically, the front camera has the same disadvantages as the rear one. The pictures are blurry and there is also a problem with white saturation. It is usually used to photograph someone standing next to them, in which case it is an excellent camera. The front flash is a useful feature.

The camera app on the device is similar to the one on the Zenfone 2 Laser and has a well-designed interface. Auto mode, detailed manual mode, HDR, panorama, smart delete, slow motion, GIF animation and slow motion are some of the features worth looking out for. These modes can also be used through the front camera. In addition, a selfie panorama option is available.

performance
In terms of everyday use, the Asus ZenFone Selfie is a decent smartphone thanks to the Snapdragon 615 chipset found in the device. Help is also provided by the 3GB of RAM, which helps keep the device running smoothly. The interface works flawlessly. Apps and games load easily and run smoothly. The experience of playing Dead Trigger 2 on this device was great. However, the battery drained very quickly and the back of the device also got a little warm. Our test videos played smoothly on it, too.

In benchmark tests, the selfie smartphone performed better than other Snapdragon 615-powered devices. You’re paying for premium camera technology anyway, so its performance seems to go a long way toward justifying the price.

Battery life is also good. In our video recording test, the Asus ZenFone Selfie’s battery lasted 11 hours and 28 minutes. This is slightly lower than the Asus Zenfone 2 Laser. The battery of this device easily lasts for a day. The Selfie smartphone also performed well in terms of call quality.

our decision
The Asus Zenfone Selfie smartphone is a very affordable and reliable phone with decent performance and satisfactory software. It doesn’t provide a completely premium experience, but it’s definitely close. It looks good and feels good to hold. Now Asus has also created its own identity and with this it can increase its market share.

The camera features present in this phone are similar to what we usually see in premium smartphones. Features like laser autofocus system, large front camera sensor and front dual-tone flash are downright premium for a device priced under Rs 20,000. That’s not to say the camera doesn’t have its flaws, but you can expect great photos from the Asus Zenfone Selfie.

If you are one of those people who use their smartphone camera mainly to take pictures of themselves (selfies), then Zenfone Selfie is a great option for you. It is a powerful device with excellent rear and front cameras. You won’t be disappointed with this.
