If you don’t have a Windows or Mac computer with saved Wi-Fi passwords, or you’re trying to access your Wi-Fi passwords through your phone or tablet, you can find your saved passwords through your router. Obviously this will only work when you are connected to the router’s network. Remember that you can also connect your router via an Ethernet cable. Tablets and mobile phones with Wi-Fi available
If you are not connected to the network, you will not be able to find out the password.

These steps may be slightly different for each router. If you make the wrong settings, the entire network will fail. So proceed at your own risk.

1. First of all, open your browser and go to the local address of the router. This is usually http://192.168.1.1, although the URL also depends on the router brand, so check manually or visit the official site to find out the correct address.

2. Enter your username and password. And this will also be different for different companies. You can also change your password and should do so. However, the default username and password in routers provided by MTNL and Airtel is admin. Whereas in other routers the default password is password. If this combination doesn’t work, you’ll have to contact your router manufacturer or ISP.

3. Click Internet, then Wireless. In some routers, the wireless option is available on the main screen itself. In this section you will be able to see the security type (WEP, WPA) and key. On some routers, all of these options are located under the Security tab.

The Wi-Fi network password is available in the box next to the key field. And on many routers, it’s available in plain text, so you’ll have to write it down.

If all solutions don’t work…
If none of the above helps, you may need to reboot your router. Don’t do this if you can’t connect any devices to the network. Resetting your router is a last resort as you will have to reconfigure your entire network to restore your internet connection. If you are not aware of this, we recommend that you contact your Internet Service Provider.

We can’t give you an exact guide on this as it depends on the router manufacturer. Before doing this, you should read your router’s user manual. Every router has a reset switch. Some routers have a very small button, while others have this button hidden in a small hole (you can press it with a paper clip). To reboot the router, this switch must be held for some time. You will know that it has been reset by the blinking lights on the router.

After that, wait for the router to reboot and then configure the network. The steps you need to take in this process will depend on your ISP, so we suggest you contact your service provider to reset your router.

This way you can recover your saved Wi-Fi password. If you also know any other method, please let us know in the comment box below.
