Review of Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016)

After the Samsung Galaxy S series smartphone, the Galaxy A series smartphone is considered one of the best smartphones. The company produces smartphones in this series for those customers who want to buy premium Samsung smartphones at a low price. These devices do not have the same features as Samsung’s flagship S series smartphones, but the Samsung Galaxy A series smartphones are still much better.

at the end of last year Samsung there are new ones Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5 andor Galaxy A3 Smartphones were released. Today we will review the Samsung Galaxy A5 smartphone and find out whether this Samsung smartphone is worth buying or not. What are the disadvantages and advantages of this new Samsung smartphone?

Appearance and Design
As you may have seen in Samsung’s TV ads, the company is heavily promoting the Galaxy A5’s metal and glass design, and that’s what makes it special. Simply put, this Samsung smartphone looks like a premium smartphone like the Galaxy S6. This Samsung phone features curved Gorilla Glass 4 on the front and back, making it look and feel better than previous generation phones.

Talking about the front of the phone, this smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display that looks good with vibrant colors even in sunlight. The edges of the A5 are very thin, giving it an edge-to-edge look.

The navigation buttons are in the same place as on every Samsung phone. The fingerprint scanner only works from the Home button. But there is no LED for incoming notifications in this smartphone, the headphone jack is located at the bottom, and there is Micro-USB and a speaker grille.

The Galaxy A5 smartphone (codenamed A510FD) was launched in India with dual SIM slots and a microSD card slot. The SIM tray on the right side has a slot for the main SIM card and microSD, while the secondary SIM card slot is located on the top side of the phone.

When you buy a Samsung Galaxy A5 smartphone, you get a 10W charger, a headset and a SIM eject tool. Samsung has done a great job on the design and build of this smartphone, making it similar to the flagship Galaxy S6 smartphone. However, the glass on the back of the phone makes it a little slippery to hold. The lack of LED notification on the phone is quite surprising.

Specifications and software
This time around, Samsung has made a lot of improvements not only in the design of the phone but also in its performance. The Galaxy A5 (2016) phone sold in India is powered by an octa-core Exynos 7580 processor. Samsung recently used the same processor in its mid-range smartphone Galaxy J7. However, the processor in the Galaxy A5 runs with slight improvements (runs at 1.6 GHz and supports 6LTE).

While testing the phone, we got decent scores, but the GPU scores were a little lower.

The phone has 16 GB of internal memory and 2 GB of RAM. Using a microSD card, the storage can be expanded up to 128 GB. Apart from this, the phone comes with connectivity features like dual-band Wi-Fi B/G/N, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, FM radio and USB OTG. The A5 supports 4G in both SIM card slots, although the phone does not support VoLTE.

While it’s a little disappointing that the Galaxy A5 (2016) comes with Android Lollipop, it looks like Samsung has kept Marshmallow for its flagship Galaxy S7 smartphone.

Apps like Samsung S Health and My Galaxy come pre-installed on the phone. The Super Data Saver mode introduced in the J series is also present in the Galaxy A5. In addition, the phone comes pre-installed with many popular Microsoft and Google applications.

performance
The overall performance of the phone is quite good. But if you have many apps open in the background at the same time, the phone becomes a little slower. But other than that, we never saw any problems with the phone. The phone gets warm during gaming and frequent camera use, but it works without any problems. We did not notice any problems with connection quality on the 4G network.

The fingerprint scanner works, but it’s not as fast as the sensors in many recently released phones. Despite 16 GB of internal memory, only 11 GB is available to the user. But thanks to expandable storage, this is not a big problem.

The bright display provides excellent multimedia playback quality. Full HD videos and high bitrate files also play well. The sound quality of the phone is quite good thanks to the mono speaker.

The phone’s 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and large F/1.9 aperture allows you to take superb, detailed landscape photos in daylight. The color rendition of the photos is quite good. Photos taken in artificial and low light look good even when zoomed in. Overall the camera quality is good.

The video is also quite good in Full HD resolution. You can take detailed selfies even indoors with the 5-megapixel camera with F/1.9 aperture. Pictures can be taken quickly with a phone, but focusing is very slow. The same problem occurs when recording video. The lack of phase detection autofocus is clearly visible.

The Galaxy A5’s camera isn’t much better than Samsung’s flagship smartphones.

battery life
The new Galaxy A5 is equipped with a powerful 2900 mAh battery. However, this slightly increased the thickness and weight of the phone. But that doesn’t matter as the phone’s battery lasted a continuous 14 hours and 42 minutes in our video recording test. With normal use, we were able to use the phone for a day and a half without charging. The phone comes with Adaptive Quick Charging technology and we charged the battery from 0 to 50 percent in just half an hour.

our decision
Samsung has done a great job on the Galaxy A5 smartphone. With improvements in design and design, the Galaxy A series is now very close to the flagship S series. However, the company has kept the price of the phone completely wrong, making this phone not a recommended purchase. The Galaxy A5 2016 retails at around Rs 28,500, which is quite expensive considering all its specifications.

The Galaxy A5 will only succeed if Samsung improves its price. In our opinion, for Rs 20,000 you will get many other better smartphones with all these specifications and features. The build, design, display and battery life of the Galaxy A5 are very good. We also liked the camera quality, but the phone could have been better. But we did not understand the reason for the lack of notification LED in the phone.
